This IVF due date calculator works out your due date from your embryo transfer date (day 3, day 5 or day 6), egg retrieval or IUI date. It also shows how many weeks pregnant you are today and the key trimester dates.
How IVF due dates are calculated
A pregnancy lasts on average 266 days from conception, which is 280 days (40 weeks) from the first day of the last period. With IVF, the conception date is known exactly:
| Date you know | Due date |
|---|---|
| Egg retrieval or IUI | Date + 266 days |
| Day 3 embryo transfer | Transfer date + 263 days |
| Day 5 blastocyst transfer | Transfer date + 261 days |
| Day 6 blastocyst transfer | Transfer date + 260 days |
Worked example
For a day 5 blastocyst transfer on 1 March 2026, the due date is 261 days later: 17 November 2026.
Frozen embryo transfers
For a frozen embryo transfer (FET), use the transfer date and the embryo’s age when it was frozen. The time the embryo spent frozen does not count.
Frequently asked questions
Is an IVF due date more accurate?
Yes. Because the embryo’s age is known exactly, IVF due dates are usually more precise than dates based on a menstrual period.
How many weeks pregnant am I at transfer?
At a day 5 transfer you are considered 2 weeks and 5 days pregnant, since pregnancy is counted from the equivalent of the last period.
When is the first ultrasound after IVF?
Clinics often schedule it around 6 to 7 weeks of pregnancy to check for a heartbeat.
Does this work for egg donor cycles?
Yes. Use the transfer date and the embryo’s age at transfer.
