Shopify Profit Calculator

This Shopify profit calculator works out your store’s monthly profit after your Shopify plan, payment processing, product costs, shipping, advertising and apps. It uses Shopify’s current US plan prices and card rates, and shows how many orders you need to break even.

Shopify plans and payment rates (US)

Plan Monthly price (billed yearly / monthly) Online card rate Fee if not using Shopify Payments
Basic $29 / $39 2.9% + 30¢ 2%
Grow $79 / $105 2.7% + 30¢ 1%
Advanced $299 / $399 2.5% + 30¢ 0.6%

If you use another payment provider instead of Shopify Payments, Shopify adds its own transaction fee on top of that provider’s charges.

Worked example

A store on the Basic plan (billed yearly) takes 200 orders a month at an average of $50. With products costing 35% of sales, $6 shipping per order, $1,500 of advertising and $50 of apps, monthly profit is about $3,371, a 33.7% margin.

When to upgrade your plan

A higher plan has lower card rates. Grow saves 0.2 percentage points over Basic, which covers the extra $50 a month (billed yearly) once card sales pass about $25,000 a month. Use the calculator to compare plans at your own volume.
