This grade calculator works out your current weighted grade from assignment scores and their weights, and tells you what you need on the final exam to reach your target grade.

Weighted grade formula
Weighted grade = Σ(score × weight) ÷ Σ(weight)
Final exam score needed = (target − current grade × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight
Worked example
Homework 92% (20% weight), midterm 78% (30%) and quizzes 85% (10%) give (18.4 + 23.4 + 8.5) ÷ 60 = 83.83%. If the final is worth 40% and you want 85% overall, you need about 86.75% on the final.
Frequently asked questions
Do my weights need to add up to 100?

What letter grade scale does it use?
The common US scale: 90% and above is an A, 80% a B, 70% a C, 60% a D, and below 60% an F. Your instructor’s scale may differ.
