This Etsy fee calculator works out every main Etsy fee on a sale: the listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing fee and Offsite Ads fee. It shows what you receive and your real profit after materials and postage, for sellers in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia.

Etsy seller fees

Fee Amount Charged on
Listing fee $0.20 per listing Each listing and each item sold
Transaction fee 6.5% Item price plus shipping and gift wrap (not US sales tax)
Payment processing (US) 3% + $0.25 Total order including shipping and tax
Payment processing (UK) 4% + £0.20 Total order
Payment processing (Canada, Australia) 3% + 0.25 domestic; 4% + 0.25 international Total order
Offsite Ads 15%, or 12% for shops over $10,000 a year Order total, capped at $100 per order

Worked example

A US seller sells a $30 item with $5 shipping, and the buyer pays $2.50 sales tax. Fees are $0.20 listing + $2.28 transaction + $1.38 processing = $3.85. The seller receives $31.15; after $10 materials and $4.50 postage, profit is about $16.65, a 47.6% margin.

How to keep more of each sale

  • Build fees into your price; aim for a margin after fees, not before.
  • Avoid “free shipping” losses by including postage costs in the item price.
  • Track which sales come from Offsite Ads, as that fee can be the largest one.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take per sale?

For a typical US sale, about 9.5% of the price plus shipping, plus $0.45 in fixed fees: 6.5% transaction, 3% + $0.25 processing and the $0.20 listing fee. Offsite Ads add 12–15% when they apply.

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the payment processing fee both apply to the shipping you charge.

Can I opt out of Offsite Ads?

Shops with under $10,000 in sales in the past 12 months can opt out. Above that, participation is required, at the lower 12% rate.

Are there other Etsy fees?

Possibly: currency conversion, regulatory operating fees in some countries, VAT on fees for UK and EU sellers, and optional Etsy Ads or subscriptions.
