How days are counted
The calculator counts calendar days from the start date to the end date. If you include the end date, one day is added; this is how you count days in a hotel stay, a project or a holiday when both the first and last days count.
Worked example
From January 1 to December 31, 2026, there are 364 days, or 365 days including the end date. That range contains 261 weekdays (Monday to Friday) and 104 weekend days.
Frequently asked questions
Does it account for leap years?
Yes. It uses real calendar dates, so February 29 is counted in leap years.
Are public holidays excluded from weekdays?
No. Holidays differ by country and state, so subtract them yourself. For adding or subtracting days from a date, use the date calculator.
